Comprehensive Guide to Timewalking Changes & Updates in Patch 11.0.5

Blizzard has announced exciting changes to Timewalking in the upcoming Patch 11.0.5, coinciding with World of Warcraft’s 20th anniversary. These updates promise to enhance the overall player experience, making Timewalking more engaging and rewarding. This guide will explore these changes and explain how they can benefit you.

1. Timewalking Scaling Overhaul

Timewalking is undergoing a significant scaling change. Previously, Timewalking content began at various levels depending on the expansion. Now, all Timewalking activities will start at level 10 and scale up to level 80. This change simplifies the experience and makes it more accessible to players across different levels.Additionally, the scaling method has been reversed. Instead of players adjusting their level to match the Timewalking content, the content will now scale to the player's current level. This means if you enter a Timewalking dungeon at level 55, the enemies and bosses will also be level 55. This new scaling system aligns with the approach used in Chromie Time, making balancing and scaling easier for developers.

2. Retirement of Timewalking Sets

One of the more controversial changes is the retirement of Timewalking sets. Players will no longer be able to use legacy items like the Heart of Azeroth, Azerite gear, or old trinkets and legendaries unless they are at the appropriate level. This change marks the end of an era for players who enjoyed optimizing their gear specifically for Timewalking challenges.

3. Vendor Updates and New Items

Patch 11.0.5 brings exciting updates to Timewalking vendors, adding a range of new items. For example, the Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking event will offer 33 new cosmetics, including mounts, weapons, and gear sets. Burning Crusade Timewalking will add 26 new items, featuring unused appearances. These additions are supplementary, meaning existing items will remain available alongside the new options. Notable new mounts include the Enchanted Spellweave Carpet for Wrath of the Lich King Timewalking and the Amani War Bear for Burning Crusade Timewalking.

4. Introduction of Classic Timewalking

In celebration of WoW’s 20th anniversary, Classic Timewalking is being introduced. After the anniversary event, Classic Timewalking will become a regular part of the Timewalking rotation. Players can explore six iconic dungeons, including the original Deadmines and several Cataclysm versions of other classic dungeons. During the event, players will enjoy a 50% increase in reputation gains from combat and quests, making it an excellent opportunity to boost old reputations. The event also introduces a vendor selling the new Reins of the Feralas Hippogryph mount, along with classic items like Savory Deviate Delight and Noggenfogger Elixir.
