Comprehensive Guide to WoW's 20th Anniversary Celebration (Patch 11.0.5)
World of Warcraft (WoW) is celebrating its monumental 20th anniversary with an array of exciting events and activities that promise to be the biggest celebration in the history of Azeroth. The festivities kick off on October 22nd and run through January 6th, offering players a chance to dive into a plethora of anniversary-themed events, collectibles, and more. Here’s your detailed guide to everything you can expect during this grand celebration.
Main Hub and Activities
The heart of the anniversary festivities is located near the Caverns of Time, which has been transformed into a bustling carnival-like hub. Here, players can find quest givers, reward vendors, and various fun activities, including:
Fashion Frenzy Stage: Participate in a trial-of-style competition and show off your best transmogs.
Mount Mania Arena: Engage in a mount-off with your finest rides.
Storyteller Stage with Lorewalker Cho: Enjoy epic tales of Azeroth’s past, complete with audience participation.
Cosplay and Activities: Cosplay as in-game heroes like Illidan or Anduin by finding replicas nearby, and have fun at the ice rink or on the balloon ride.
Every four days, the hub will feature a different Azeroth continent theme, offering new NPCs, costumes, and props.
Classic Blackrock Depths Raid
Classic Blackrock Depths returns, reimagined as a 10-to-15-player raid. Join Moira Bronzebeard and take on eight main bosses and five mini-bosses in this historical raid, available in LFR, Normal, and Heroic difficulties. For the first time, this raid is accessible during leveling, with LFR open to players Level 30 and up, even without owning “The War Within.”
Classic Timewalking Dungeons
Rediscover six original dungeons with Classic Timewalking, which includes Deadmines, Zul'Farrak, Dire Maul East and West, Stratholme Living, and Stratholme Undead. Available to players Level 10 and up, these dungeons offer a challenge between Normal and Heroic, with rewards on the Explorer track. Special vendors will provide Classic Timewalking rewards such as the Frayfeather Hippogryph and Mohawk Grenade. Also Season of Discovery Weapons.
Korrak's Revenge and PvP Nostalgia
Experience vintage PvP with the return of Korrak's Revenge, inspired by the early days of Alterac Valley. Complete a quest to earn mounts like the Stormpike Battle Ram for the Alliance and the Frostwolf Snarler for the Horde.
Relive past PvP glory by donning appearances of old PvP sets by finding alliance armory or horde supplies at the starting areas.
Chromie’s Codex and the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj
Assist Chromie in preparing tours for the opening of the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj in a 10-to-20-player scenario. Help her fix her Codex by removing enemies like the Scourge and Legion, ensuring the timeline remains intact.
World Bosses and Outdoor Encounters
Take on six iconic World Bosses, including new ones like the Sha of Anger and Archavon the Stonewatcher. These two bosses might also drop their respective mounts! Other returning bosses include Doomwalker, Azuregos, and Lord Kazzak. Players Level 15 and up can join these battles for loot drops.
Anniversary Rewards
Celebrate with a variety of rewards, both returning and new. Key highlights include:
Classic Tier 2 Armor Appearances: Modernized with updated modeling and VFX.
New Class Sets: Inspired by iconic NPCs for classes that didn’t exist during the original Tier 2 release.
Blizzard-themed Rewards: Items based on real-world employee awards, including a sword, shield, helm, ring, and mount.
Pets and Toys: Two new pets and a balloon toy are available, along with Warcraft III-themed back appearances for factions.
