Huge M+ changes coming in 11.0.7
Next week, with the arrival of Patch 11.0.7, Blizzard is set to make significant adjustments to the availability of crests from Mythic+ dungeons. This update aims to simplify the process of earning the Harbinger of the Gilded achievement, which offers crest discounts and more! This patch will also mark the beginning of Season 2, creating a fresh start for players looking to dive into new content.
In 11.0.7, several changes will be introduced regarding Gilded Harbinger Crests and the earning of various crest types through Mythic+ dungeons. Gilded Crests, along with Mythic-track gear, represent the highest tier of available equipment in a season. Blizzard has received feedback indicating that both the accessibility of these crests and the costs associated with crafting high-tier gear felt overly restrictive.
Scaling Currency Rewards: Crest and gold rewards from Mythic+ dungeons will now scale with the keystone level. Additionally, if a keystone is completed outside the timer, it will consistently deduct 4 crests.
Reduced Crest Requirements: The number of Gilded Harbinger Crests needed to purchase a Nascent Gilded Harbinger Crest has been lowered from 90 to 60. Similarly, the requirement for Harbinger Crests needed to buy trade-up bags will now be 45 instead of 90.
Achievement Adjustment: The requirements for the Harbinger of the Gilded achievement have been adjusted to require an item level of 636 in every slot, down from 639. This change is designed to provide players with more flexibility and ensure that those completing challenging content can achieve the final Warband discount without excessive luck.
The adjustments to crest rewards from Mythic+ dungeons have two primary objectives. First, they aim to ensure that challenge and reward are appropriately aligned. Previously, players focused on maximizing crest income were often encouraged to tackle the easiest dungeons for their desired crest type, even if they were capable of handling more difficult content. This created challenges for newer players trying to find groups for Mythic 8 keys, as they often competed with players more suited for higher difficulties.
Second, the previous reward system was perceived as overly punitive. For instance, a group that failed to beat the timer in a Mythic +7 would receive fewer crests than a group that succeeded in a Mythic +4, which felt unbalanced. The new system, which adjusts the crest drop from a missed timer to a difference of 4 crests, aims to encourage teamwork while still rewarding effort.
Here is a detailed breakdown of the crest drop rates based on the difficulty level and whether the timer was beaten or expired:
